Include the tool or page involved, the time of the problem, the station and service date, and any error message. A screenshot or generated map link can help. Do not send passwords, API keys, payment details or other unnecessary personal information.

Support is provided on a best-effort basis, with no guaranteed response time. For tickets, refunds, accessibility assistance or urgent travel advice, contact the relevant train operator. TrainBrain cannot manage bookings or railway operations.

Terms of use

TrainBrain provides railway information, journey suggestions and maps. It is an independent project; references to data and software providers do not imply endorsement or an official partnership.

The hosted service is provided as is and as available. To the extent permitted by law, no warranty is given for accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability or the correction of every error. Features and access may change, be limited or cease.

Check important travel information with the operator and station displays. Running reports can be delayed, incomplete or superseded. A reported train location or schematic marker is not GPS tracking. Route geometry can be inferred. Journey searches are bounded and do not verify official minimum interchange times, ticket validity or accessibility. No connection or arrival time is guaranteed.

To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not responsible for losses caused by unavailable or inaccurate information, missed connections or reliance on suggested routes. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Use the hosted service lawfully and reasonably. Do not bypass access controls or rate limits, disrupt the service, expose credentials, or use it for bulk extraction contrary to the relevant data provider's terms. Access may be limited to protect the service and its upstream providers. These hosted-service conditions do not restrict rights granted by the software's GPL licence.

Generated maps and images have public links: anyone with a link may access or share it. Do not treat those links as private storage or use the service to submit confidential information. See the privacy notice for further information.

Software licence

Original TrainBrain software in the source repository is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or (at your option) any later version (GPL-3.0-or-later). You may use, study, modify and redistribute it subject to that licence, including its source-code and notice requirements when applicable. The software is supplied without warranty as specified in the GPL.

This licence applies to the original software, not to third-party railway data, map data, trademarks or separately licensed dependencies. Those retain their own terms. Earlier releases retain the licences under which they were distributed. The GPL does not provide API credentials, a data subscription or a right to unlimited use of the hosted service.

Realtime Trains (RTT)

Railway information is provided by Realtime Trains, operated by Swlines Ltd. RTT data remains the property of RTT or its data providers and is used subject to the applicable API Terms of Use and access agreement. It is not relicensed under the GPL.

RTT requires visible attribution and a link for public-facing uses unless waived in writing. Its free API access is for personal, non-commercial use; commercial or other use outside that permission requires the appropriate agreement. Reuse of outputs must respect RTT's terms and any underlying rights. These notices do not grant additional redistribution rights.

TIGER

Formation and passenger-facility information, where available, is obtained through the public TIGER API portal. Public API availability does not make the information public domain or grant an unrestricted reuse licence. Provider terms and rights in the underlying information continue to apply; no separate open-data licence is asserted here.

OpenStreetMap (OSM)

Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL) 1.0. Keep the required attribution when sharing maps or images. Database reuse and adaptation must comply with the ODbL, including applicable share-alike requirements.

Use of OpenStreetMap's hosted tiles is also subject to its Tile Usage Policy. An open data licence does not guarantee free or unlimited access to hosted tile services. Other datasets and dependencies retain their supplied notices and licences.
